Chat with your assets

Understanding Knowledge Preferences

Want to dive deeper into how these knowledge preferences work and how they can enhance your SmartChat™ experience? Check out our detailed guide on knowledge sources.

When you start a SmartChat™, you’ll notice three options at the top of the chat input bar. These allow you to control the knowledge sources used to answer your questions:

  1. Collection Only: SmartChat™ will exclusively use the assets in your current Collection to generate answers. This is ideal when you want responses based solely on your specific documents.
  • Uses only your uploaded files
  • No external knowledge
  • Ideal for proprietary research
  1. Collection + Public Knowledge: SmartChat™ will primarily use your Collection assets but may supplement answers with general knowledge when beneficial. It’s great for comprehensive responses that leverage both your specific content and broader context.
  • Combines Collection files with public data
  • Automatically supplements responses
  • Best for general analysis
  1. Public Knowledge: In this mode, SmartChat™ relies entirely on its general knowledge base, without referencing your Collection assets. This is useful when you want to explore topics beyond the scope of your uploaded documents.
  • Ignores your Collection files
  • Pure web-based knowledge
  • Use for market research

You can switch between these options at any time during your chat to tailor the responses to your current needs.

Managing Assets in Scope

Understanding Assets in Your SmartChat™ Thread

Within the SmartChat™ window, you can easily view the assets you are discussing or have in scope.

  1. Locate the Assets in Scope button
    • In the upper right corner of the SmartChat™ window, you’ll find the “Assets in Scope” button.
  2. View Your Assets
    • Clicking this button will open a panel displaying the number of assets in scope along with their details. This gives you clear visibility of the files you’re currently chatting about.
  3. Add More Assets
    • From this panel, you can also add additional assets to your SmartChat™ thread.
