How to start a new thread

From the home page

  • To start a new thread on the home page, click on the chat box or press CMD + K to focus on the chat.
  • Enter your prompt and hit send. This will open our chat dashboard, where you can access various chat features with Storytell.
  • Keep the conversation going by uploading content or continuously entering prompts.

Use the Mad Libs-style prompts

  • Navigate to the Storytell platform landing page where you will see the Mad Libs-style prompt bar.
  • Use the dropdown menus to select predefined values to create your desired prompt. For example, you can choose to “summarize a file to explain it to a less technical audience” from the available options.
  • Upload the file you wish to work with.
  • Once the file upload is complete, it will become a reference tag, ready to be used in your prompt.
  • After crafting your prompt with the desired predefined options and any necessary file references, submit the prompt.
  • Navigate to the thread to see a detailed progress indicator for the file processing.

From your chat dashboard

  • On the Storytell landing page, click on Dashboard.
  • Make sure you are on the SmartChat tab.
  • In your dashboard, locate the projects tree on the left-hand side of your screen.
  • If you do not see it, click on the expand button.
  • Click on New Thread
  • Storytell will use the uploaded files to generate context-aware responses.

How to initiate a thread with use case categories

  • On the home page, scroll down to find our use case categories: Work, Life, and Play. Alternatively, you can access these categories via the navigation bar.

  • Select the use case that best suits your needs or interests.
  • After selecting a use case, more specific categories will appear. Choose the one that fits you best. You can easily navigate between use cases using the directory located just below the navigation bar.
  • This will open a new window displaying various prompts related to the selected use case. Click on a prompt that seems useful to you.
  • This action will open our chat dashboard, with the chosen prompt automatically populating the chat box.
  • Hit send to start a conversation with Storytell, which will now have context based on your selected use case.

From the home page suggestions

  • Our homepage features a variety of alternating Use Cases and Prompts that we believe you’ll find insightful and engaging.
  • When you click on a Use Case, you’ll be taken to a dedicated page showcasing similar Use Cases and related Prompts.
  • Click on a Prompt to enter our smart onboarding process, where you can immediately test and experience the Prompt firsthand.
